Common questions
How does receipt scanning work?
Tap the camera button to scan a receipt (the scanner finds the edges and straightens it), or the photos button to pick one or more receipts from your gallery. ExpenseCub reads the store, total, date and the card's last 4 digits on your phone, then fills in the business, category, card and tags from your last entry at the same store. Check the details and tap Save.
Why did it choose that category or card?
Under the receipt in the new-expense form, ExpenseCub lists why it picked each value, for example "from your last Home Depot entry". If it's wrong, change it and save; the next receipt from that store will follow your correction.
Where are my receipt photos stored?
On the device that took or picked them: your phone's app storage, or your browser's storage on the web. They aren't uploaded. On your other devices you'll see the entry without the photo.
How do I sync my phone and the web?
Sign in with the same Google account or email on both. Your entries, categories, businesses, tags and cards stay in sync, and each device keeps an offline copy.
Can I use it without an account?
Yes. Choose "Use without an account" when you first open the app. Entries stay on that device only. If you sign in later, they move into your account.
How do I add a business, category, tag or card?
Open the Lists tab. Each business has its own categories (business books start with QuickBooks-style categories; Personal starts with everyday ones). Save a card's last 4 digits so receipts are matched to it, and link a card to a business to send its receipts there automatically.
How do I export my data?
Lists › Your data › Export all as CSV, or export just what's showing on the Transactions tab. The CSV opens in Excel, Google Sheets and most accounting tools.
I forgot my password.
On the sign-in screen, tap "Forgot password?" and enter your email. We'll send a link to choose a new one. Check your spam folder if it doesn't arrive in a few minutes.
How do I delete my account?

Is there an iPhone app?
It's planned. Until then, the web app works in Safari on iPhone, and your entries will carry over.
